The Virginia Beach Deuces did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Asheville Highlanders at Virginia Beach Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher John Wallbank, who captured player of the game honors. Kenny Hannah was called on to finish, recording his 12th save. The 9th-place Highlanders have lost 4 straight games.
Alejandro Bracamonte went 3 for 4 with 3 singles for Virginia Beach. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jacob Petithomme. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Wallbank.
