Thunder Hawks Come Back Late to Clip Rapiers
|
Ft. Polk South withstood an impressive performance by Durham first baseman Harlan Thompson to defeat the Rapiers, 6-5, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Thompson went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Seong-hyeon Pak, credited with the win, is now 5-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The 'W' lifts Ft. Polk South's record to 48-30.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Ft. Polk South trailing 5-4, Pedro Larate hit a fastball from Bob Kennedy to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Thunder Hawks had a walk-off win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Larate. "And not try to do too much."
