The Asheville Highlanders did just enough to secure a 9-8 victory over the San Antonio BC at Asheville Park. Nobody did more than right fielder DeMarvion Overshown, who captured player of the game honors. The win was credited to Francisco Santos in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Shawn Coleman took the loss. Larcena Pennington was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Jeff Lowe's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Asheville. Coming to bat with one out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Asheville leading 8-5, the catcher hit a sacrifice fly.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Asheville manager Jack Alexander.

Asheville is now 38-36, while San Antonio is 30-44.
