Boston Patriots starter Aurelio López was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Chicago Gold Sox, 5-1. López went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-2. The Patriots bumped their record to 45-32 with this latest triumph.
Manuel Carmona had a big 2-run triple for the Patriots in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Esteban Jiménez and stroked the triple to center. It was his 8th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 3-0.
In postgame comments to the Boston Chronicle, Carmona said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
