Nationals Win in Extras
|
The Ottawa Nationals relied on the hitting of first baseman Alan Shaw to stop the Yakima Hops, 5-4. For the game, Shaw went 3-5 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Ottawa reliever Walid bin Amid picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-1. Rodrigo Hagen was collared with the loss. Ottawa now owns a record of 20-47.
Ottawa won the game in the bottom of the 13th inning. With no outs and Rodrigo Hagen on the mound for Yakima, third baseman Bartho Simonse hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Nationals fans to their feet.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Yakima manager Kyle Myers.
