Highlanders Come Back Late to Clip Rails
|
Asheville Highlanders starter Jacob Petithomme turned in a top-notch performance against the Richland Rails at Rails Ballpark. The result was a win for the Highlanders, 4-2. Asheville reliever Mario Sánchez got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Aliaume Thiame was tagged with the loss. José Rosales was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 17 save opportunities.
Had Roberto Flores not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Flores hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Highlanders.
"We did a lot of things right," said Petithomme.
The Highlanders now have a mark of 32-31.
