Thunder Hawks Mow Down Highlanders, 9-4
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks bested the Asheville Highlanders by a score of 9-4, with designated hitter Ruggiero Veneziano getting the main credit. On the day, Veneziano went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Thunder Hawks. Jesús Silva, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Kyle Overhill closed the door for Ft. Polk South, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Thomas Feliciano hit a bases-clearing double off Manuel Medranda in the bottom of the first, which put the Thunder Hawks in front, 3-0. In addition to the double, Feliciano had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Mark Harrison said.
