Deuces Lose Again, 6-4, to Hops
|
The Yakima Hops defeated the Virginia Beach Deuces, 6-4, in M3L Double A action at Virginia Beach Grounds, with Yakima pitcher José Vélez named player of the game. The winning pitcher was Vélez, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Justin Furneaux earned the save, his 2nd, for the Hops.
Had Nicholas Seal not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Seal hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hops.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Seal said.
Virginia Beach's current losing streak is now 6 games.
