McGirt hits 11th home run in Evergreens Win
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Willie McGirt, the Portland Evergreens defeated the Boston Patriots, 6-2. McGirt was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Evergreens. Jorge Otero got the win, improving to 6-4. He held the Patriots to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Gabriel Valenzuela earned the save for Portland, his 1st of the year.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when third baseman Billy Dotson, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, drew a walk. The Evergreens went on to win.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Dotson. "And not try to do too much."

The Evergreens' win now puts them at 40-31.
