Knights Fall Short, 5-4, at Echo Park
|
The Echo Park Lakers topped the Kingston Township Knights by the score of 5-4, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Manuel Guillama. Guillama went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Lakers. Mike Owens, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Knights to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 6. Jeffery Prosser was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 28 save opportunities.
Angeddy Almanzar's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was significant for the Lakers. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Echo Park leading 4-3, the first baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Almanzar.
Echo Park is now 41-53, while Kingston Township is 38-56.
