Battery Top Lakers Behind Martínez, 2-0
|
Pitcher Miguel Angel Martínez was sensational for the Charleston Battery in his team's 2-0 triumph over the Echo Park Lakers. Martínez received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The Battery have an impressive 53-28 record.
It was an impressive outing from the soft-spoken Martínez, who tallied 9 strikeouts in 8.2 innings and allowed only 4 hits. Martínez, who is tied for 9th in the 3L with a 1.12 WHIP, raised his record to 6-2 on the year with 71 strikeouts.
"Runs were at a premium," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt.
