The Houston 1837 BBC defeated the Charleston Battery, 4-2, at Houston Grounds. Houston third baseman Komotay Koffie was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. Javier Desdin got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Dorian Daly was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 9 save opportunities.
The 1837 BBC got a big at-bat from right fielder Eugene Bennett. For the game, Bennett went 2-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Houston a 3-2 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Houston manager Tyler Johnson.
The 1837 BBC have an impressive 49-29 record.
