Oakland got a terrific performance from pitcher Panda Montana, but it wasn't enough to beat the Quebec City Les Bleus. Quebec City won the Oakland Coliseum contest, 7-1. Montana was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Quebec City is now 26-49, Oakland 52-23.

Quebec City used the clutch hitting of Jeff Simpson to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Les Bleus the lead, 1-0. For the game, Simpson had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
