Pandas Top 1837 BBC to Even Record

Both teams had their chances, but the Montana Pandas eventually prevailed at Panda Park.
The Houston 1837 BBC got a superb performance from pitcher Gary Mason. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Montana. The Pandas won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Mason was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Montana reliever Ieyoshi Asai got the win, raising his record to 6-2. Gary Mason was tagged with the loss.
The Pandas beat the 1837 BBC in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run António Martínez produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Houston pitcher Gary Mason, Martínez gave his team a 3-2 lead when he hit a solo home run.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Martínez said.
Montana now sits at 37-37, while Houston falls to 47-27.
