Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Lake Monsters
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a magnificent performance from pitcher Marnix van Rijn, who muffled the Phoenix offense en route to a tight 2-1 Lake Monsters win at Monster Field. Jefferson Suhendro got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1 innings. The Hotspur Reserves, now 28-65, have lost 4 straight.
Sébastien Cornu was the walk-off hero for Vermont. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lake Monsters pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Cornu told the Vermont Herald.
