Hotspur Reserves Hang 4-2 Loss on Doubledays
|
Phoenix designated hitter Hieronymus Bosch was instrumental in his team's 4-2 win over the Tremont Doubledays. Bosch, who is tied for 9th in the SAAA in total bases with 132, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Hotspur Reserves. Dennis Dunn picked up the save, his 8th. Phoenix is now 22-45, while Tremont is 32-35.
Had Carl Tucker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tucker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Hotspur Reserves.
Tremont manager Don Nelson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
