Targaryens Get Past Brinkley for 5-4 Win
|
The Brinkley Belugas got a superb performance from pitcher Alejandro Araya, but the Royse City Targaryens still won the game, 5-4. Araya was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Shunen Takahashi, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Royse City has now won 3 straight, while the Belugas have lost 3 in a row.
The Targaryens were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when left fielder Víctor Cuevas turned a 1-2 fastball from Mark Valle into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Royse City a thrilling 5-4 win.
Cuevas expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
