Late Rally by Targaryens Secures Win
|
The Brinkley Belugas got a superb performance from center fielder Weston Doyle. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Royse City. The Targaryens won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Doyle was named the player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Manuel Torres picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Mark Valle was tagged with the loss. Royse City is now 25-18.
The Targaryens got a big at-bat from second baseman Takahiro Suzuki. For the game, Suzuki was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 46th hit of the season gave Royse City a 6-5 lead.
"Losing is easy," said Suzuki. "Winning is hard."
