Halberds Continue Skid Thanks to Ursin, Doubledays
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Jurg Ursin, the Tremont Doubledays defeated the Alloway Halberds, 6-4. Ursin was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Doubledays. Bo Reid got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Halberds, at 8-21, have lost 5 in a row.
Héctor Amaya, who is tied for 2nd in the SAAA in extra base hits with 16, contributed to the Tremont win with a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
Amaya told a Tremont Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
