Brinkley got a strong outing from Bob Devlin as the Belugas defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 4-2, at Thunderbirds Stadium. The winning pitcher was Devlin, now 4-1. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Austin Aries nailed down his 1st save.
Brinkley used the clutch hitting of Ronald Comejo to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to give the Belugas the lead, 3-1. For the game, Comejo had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Bob's tempo and rhythm were good," said Belugas manager Ricardo Medina. "He was the key to us winning."
After today's action, Brinkley sits at 13-15, while Phoenix falls to 13-15.
