Doubledays Jolt Belugas with Late Rally
|
The Tremont Doubledays defeated the Brinkley Belugas, 5-3, in USSL Triple A action at Belugas Ballpark, with Tremont second baseman James Hemwick named player of the game. Tremont reliever John Kraan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Juan Hernández was saddled with the loss. Tremont, at 14-12, occupies 4th place in the Silver AAA.
Had Dan Chrzan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Chrzan hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Doubledays.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tremont manager Don Nelson.
