Tritons Clip Men in Tight Contest
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Rubén Arce, the Jersey City Tritons defeated the Florida Men, 9-6. Arce went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles for the Tritons. Jersey City reliever Juan Valdéz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tyler Lund absorbed the loss. Keith Johnson closed the door for Jersey City, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Carlos Rúbio hit a run-scoring double off Tomás Vargas in the top of the ninth, which put the Tritons in front, 7-6. In addition to the double, Rúbio had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Arce told reporters after the game.
Jersey City, at 4-1, is off to a blistering start.
