Lynx Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes opened their 2034 season with a triumph over the Calgary Lynx at Crane Field. The final score was 5-3. Santa Barbara left fielder Tom Haymon had a big game. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. Isaaka Ienimea got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Lynx to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Pedro Ortíz finished the game for Santa Barbara and earned his 1st save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Rocky Zolman was at the plate when Santa Barbara scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Golden Cranes to go in front, 4-3.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Haymon said.
