Athletic Club KC Academy Top Seawolves, 7-5
|
The Long Island Seawolves got a superb performance from first baseman Shigeaki Samurakami. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Athletic Club KC Academy. The Athletic Club KC Academy won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Samurakami was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Leen van den Bosch got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Byron Rosebotham was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 5 save opportunities.
The result might have been different for Athletic Club KC Academy, had it not been for John Ricks. The second baseman produced a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Athletic Club KC Academy ahead, 6-1. For the game, Ricks had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Athletic Club KC Academy manager Brendan Andrews.
Athletic Club KC Academy is now 29-43.
