The Irving Blue Sox did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Blue Sox Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Rich McLean, who captured player of the game honors. McLean went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-1. Earning his 4th save of the year was Kerry Tenner.
Juan Jimínez, who is tied for 4th in the SAA in RBI with 36, chipped in for Irving with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"The old adage is true," said McLean. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The win puts the Blue Sox at 31-19, while the Grasshoppers drop to 32-18.
