The Irving Blue Sox picked up a win at Blue Sox Ballpark, knocking off the Northville Eclipse, 3-1. Starting pitcher Craig Fitzgerald played a key role in the triumph. Fitzgerald got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Fitzgerald allowed 1 earned run. Cheung Lai picked up the save for Irving, his 3rd of the year.
The Blue Sox had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 3-1, Irving, with one out. Northville, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Raymond Dudzinski dug in at the plate, but on a 1-2 curveball, he flied out.
The Blue Sox, now 14-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
