Mao Goes Wild, But Seawolves Win
|
Bethesda center fielder Gong Mao had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Long Island at Atoms Field. Mao slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Joe Wilson got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Atoms to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Frank Porter.
Long Island grabbed control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Dennis Chase delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Seawolves.
"Both teams played hard," said Long Island manager Rich Hunter.
The win brings the Seawolves to 8-11, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
