Highlanders Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Yoshihiro Iwasaki, the Asheville Highlanders defeated the Salem Misfits, 7-4. Iwasaki was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Highlanders. José Rosales finished to wrap up his 1st save. Losses have been rare for the Misfits, who are now 5-1.
In the bottom of the first inning, right fielder DeMarvion Overshown came through big-time for the Highlanders. With Asheville leading 1-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Overshown told a Asheville News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
