Thunder Hawks Need Extra Frames to Get Past Polar Bears
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks grabbed a 7-4 win over the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. Ft. Polk South left fielder Yu Miao was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk to earn player of the game honors. Ft. Polk South reliever Kelvin Fontijn was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Woodward Haberdash. The loss lowers the Billings record to 3-2.
Shohei Otani's at-bat in the top of the tenth was significant for the Thunder Hawks. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Ft. Polk South leading 5-4, the first baseman hit a 2-run double.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Otani.
