Buzz Come Back Late to Clip Disaster
|
Fans who came to Ballpark of Port Royal watched the Salt Lake City Buzz and the Port Royal Disaster fight to the finish.
The Buzz had to overcome a fine performance from Port Royal pitcher Jerry Kumpf to grab a 2-1 win at Ballpark of Port Royal. Kumpf allowed 1 earned run over 5.2 innings. The winner was Salt Lake City reliever Arthur Clough, now 1-1. The loser was Chenor Njie. Gregory Bahena was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
Luo-lang Li's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a curveball from Chenor Njie for a run-scoring single. It put Salt Lake City in front, 2-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Salt Lake City manager Kenny Billings.
Salt Lake City, at 48-51, sits in 6th place in the Menard's AAA.
