Victory Pushes Timber Hawks Record to 63-27
|
The inspired effort of Hialeah second baseman Stephen McManus was not enough to prevent a 5-3 loss to the Augusta Timber Hawks. McManus went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Emil Olsson got the win, improving to 6-4. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Gus Osborne got credit for the save for Augusta. It was his 21st of the year.
José Pérez hit a 2-run double off Wu-shiun Lao in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Timber Hawks in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, Pérez had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Pérez.
The Timber Hawks improved to a lofty 63-27.
