Tight Tilt Goes to Humpbacks, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring clash between Alaskan and Salt Lake City, pitcher Brandon Franklin was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned player of the game honors for Alaskan in the 3-2 win. Alaskan has an impressive 51-23 record.
Erik Sterk had a big run-scoring single for the Humpbacks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Alaskan leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Markus Widner and stroked the single to center. It was his 96th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Humpbacks ahead, 3-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Salt Lake City manager Kenny Billings said following the tough loss.
