BC Come Up Short at Tortolita
|
The Tortolita Drummers trumped the Houston BC, 6-5, at Drummers Ballpark. Tortolita center fielder Vincent Vega was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Tortolita reliever César Vásquez was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Sam White. The win puts the Drummers at 39-30, while the BC drop to 32-37.
Nottingham, New Hampshire-born Glen Allen Mixon came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd and the Drummers trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run home run to right-center to put Tortolita on top.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Tortolita manager Arturo Chávez.
