The Salt Lake City Buzz downed the Alaskan Humpbacks, 4-2, at Sea World. The Buzz were led by Cooper Lowe, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Francisco Díaz, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the Humpbacks to no earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Andrew Holloway earned the save for Salt Lake City, his 6th.
Vicente Cruz's at-bat in the top of the eighth inning was a big one for Salt Lake City. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Salt Lake City leading 2-0, the center fielder hit a 2-run single.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Salt Lake City manager James Wheeler.
Today's win puts Salt Lake City at 31-23, while Alaskan falls to 36-18.
