Buzz Come Back Late to Clip Humpbacks
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz faced a tough opponent in Alaskan pitcher Valentín Montenegro, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Spirits Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Montenegro went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Salt Lake City reliever Juan Rúbio picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Octávio Valdéz took the loss. Salt Lake City, at 18-15, occupies 5th place in the Menard's AAA.
Salt Lake City took a 3-2 lead on Luo-lang Li's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Alaskan pitcher Octávio Valdéz in the bottom of the ninth.
Afterward, Buzz manager James Wheeler was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
