Martínez Stars for Drummers in 9-2 Win
|
Tortolita third baseman Jesús Martínez had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Salt Lake City Buzz, 9-2. Tom Scots got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Tortolita currently is in 7th place in the Menard's AAA at 13-14.
Martínez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tortolita in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Martínez took a splitter from Gregory Bahena and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Drummers to leap in front, 3-1.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Martínez said. "We did a good job of that today."
