The Disaster faced a stiff challenge from Alaskan pitcher Valentín Montenegro, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Port Royal. The final score was 4-3. Montenegro went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Port Royal reliever Chet Saks was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Octávio Valdéz took the loss for Alaskan. Port Royal, at 15-12, occupies 4th place in the Menard's AAA.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with Port Royal trailing 3-2, Júlio Morín Jr. was at the plate when Port Royal scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Disaster to go in front, 4-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Port Royal manager Theo Graves.
