Coyotes Topple Coral Reefers with Late Rally
|
The Hamilton Coyotes stymied the Key West Coral Reefers, 5-2, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Ed Mellor, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs for Hamilton. Hamilton reliever Ed Maresh picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Juan Ramírez was saddled with the loss. The 10th-place Coral Reefers have lost 4 consecutive games.
Duane Wills had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth for the Coyotes. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Hamilton trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Hamilton manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
