Drummers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Timber Hawks
|
Fans who gathered at Timber Hawks Ballpark saw a good contest between the Tortolita Drummers and Augusta Timber Hawks.
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Keiran Calleson, the Tortolita Drummers defeated the Augusta Timber Hawks, 5-3. Calleson went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Drummers. Pedro Figueroa got credit for the save for Tortolita. It was his 5th of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Dave Sienna was at the plate when Tortolita scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Drummers to go in front, 5-3.
Sienna told a Tortolita Bulletin reporter that he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
Losses have been few and far between for the Timber Hawks so far this season. Their record drops to 14-4.
