Timber Hawks Stymie Tortolita, Take 3-1 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Carlos Medellín, the Augusta Timber Hawks defeated the Tortolita Drummers, 3-1. Medellín drew 4 walks in 4 plate appearances for the Timber Hawks. Augusta reliever Woody Hudson was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Oliver Huerta took the loss for Tortolita. Tate Beason closed the door for Augusta, picking up his 5th save of the year.
The Timber Hawks got a big at-bat from second baseman Bogumil Tiwontschik. For the game, Tiwontschik was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 20th hit of the season gave Augusta a 2-0 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Tiwontschik.
Augusta is off to a hot start at 14-2.
