The Portland Evergreens did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park. Nobody did more than pitcher George Eisenhauer, who captured player of the game honors. The 'W' lifts Portland's record to 15-13.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when shortstop Ramón Garmendia, who is rated as the 35th best prospect by BNN, reached on an error by the P. The Evergreens went on to win.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Eisenhauer told the Portland Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
