Chaundler Slugs Buzz to 8-5 Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Bill Chaundler, the Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 8-5. Chaundler went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Buzz. Salt Lake City reliever Juan Rúbio picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ricardo Gómez shouldered the loss. Shotaro Sugahara earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
Olaf Esveld was 2-4 with 2 singles for Salt Lake City. In the top of the seventh, with the teams deadlocked, 5-5, Esveld delivered for the Buzz. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Salt Lake City on top, 6-5.
"We maximized our offense today," said Salt Lake City skipper James Wheeler. "That makes everyone's life easier."
The Buzz are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 4th win in 10 games.
