|
The Hamilton Coyotes overcame a good performance by Sioux Falls third baseman Wilfred McLaughlin to knock off Sioux Falls, 5-4, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. McLaughlin went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Hamilton reliever Ed Maresh picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Víctor García shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was Kevin Pilkington, his 2nd.
The Coyotes got a big boost from left fielder Zack McLean who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Red Pandas hurler Kenny Koehler. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put Hamilton on top, 2-1.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Sioux Falls manager Matt Helsley.
With the win, Hamilton elevates its record to 4-4.
