Rainbow Mermaids Lose to Patriots, 7-3
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Roland Deschain, the Boston Patriots defeated the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-3. Deschain went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times for the Patriots. Leo Ingelbrigtsen got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 4.1 innings. Earning his 1st save for Boston was Santiago Alonza.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from catcher Adrián Gómez. For the game, Gómez was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Boston a 4-1 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Gómez said.
The Patriots now have a record of 16-10 with the win over Northern Virginia.
