Oaks Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Fans who gathered at The Tank saw a good contest between the Oakland Oaks and Panama City Piranhas.
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Quindarious Monday, the Panama City Piranhas suffered a 5-3 loss to the Oakland Oaks. Monday went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Merlin Bassett was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Dave Stephenson finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
The Oaks got a big at-bat from first baseman Alfonso Nazario. For the game, Nazario was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Oakland a 3-0 lead.
"I like our moxie," said Oaks manager DAshley GoAs.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Oakland.
