Flamingos Drop Evergreens with Late Score
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Las Vegas Flamingos and the Portland Evergreens, Luis Peña was the difference-maker. The Las Vegas left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Las Vegas is now 9-15, while Portland is 13-11.
Jeff Young was the walk-off hero for Las Vegas. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Flamingos catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Young told a Las Vegas Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
