Grey Wolves Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Rainbow Mermaids
|
Vancouver pitcher Miguel López did his part in helping his team beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was López, now 2-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 10. Ramón Costello locked down his 3rd save.
Barahona, Dominican Republic-born Ángelo Delgado came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Grey Wolves trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to left to put Vancouver on top.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said López.
Vancouver now sits at 11-11, while Northern Virginia falls to 12-10.
