Durham Snaps Loen's Streak at 25 Tuesday, July 26th, 2033 For 25 straight games, Soren Loen tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 21-year-old Salem Misfits center fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Durham Rapiers. The Rapiers held him hitless in 4 at-bats at Rapiers Ballpark today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 25. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Misfits took the win by the score of 5-3. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." Loen is hitting .335 so far this season with 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 66 hits including no home runs, 21 walks and .410 OBP. |
