Lynx End Davletyarov's Streak Friday, July 1st, 2033 It was the best of both worlds for the Calgary Lynx today at Thunderbirds Stadium, as they defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves 2-1 and also snapped Lopahin Davletyarov's 23-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old Phoenix shortstop failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Davletyarov, we just wanted to win the game," said Lynx skipper Ricardo Betancourt. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Davletyarov frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." Davletyarov is hitting .342 so far this season with 13 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 38 hits including 1 home run, 12 walks and .425 OBP. |
