Phoenix Snaps Rúbio's Streak at 21
Wednesday, August 10th, 2033
For 21 straight games, Carlos Rúbio tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 25-year-old Jersey City Tritons left fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves. The Hotspur Reserves held him hitless in 4 at-bats at Jersey City Grounds today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Tritons took the win by the score of 3-2.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Rúbio is hitting .329 this year with 7 home runs and 37 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .384, 20 walks and scored 36 times.
